BARRE TOWN - A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre for Rolland H. Tessier of Richardson Road who passed away on Sept. 19, 2008, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
The Most Rev. Joseph Gendron, retired bishop was the celebrant. Crucifer Robert Bates was altar server and led the Prayer of the Faithful.
Organist Angeline Ennis accompanied vocalists Mary Whyte and Ronald Routhier in the hymns "The King Of Love My Shepherd Is," "The Lord Is My Shepherd," "On Eagles Wings," "Ave Maria" and "For All The Saints."
Scripture readings from the Old and New Testaments were read by Robert Bates.
Words of remembrance were offered by granddaughter Brittany Tessier.
Pallbearers were Rolland Tessier Jr. and Patrick Tessier, both sons; Brandon Tessier, grandson; Donald Tessier, brother; and Jason Webb and Scott Griffin, both friends.
A prayer service was held Wednesday evening at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre and was led by Bishop Gendron.
Interment was in the Berlin Corner Cemetery in Berlin where Bishop Gendron offered committal prayers.
Military rites were accorded the deceased by the Vermont Air National Guard of Colchester. Taps were sounded by Sgt. Eric W. Evans. The American flag was folded by Sgt. Evans and Paul J. Carbonneau and was presented to Patricia Tessier, wife of the deceased by Sgt. Evans.
Following the interment family and friends gathered at the home of Patricia Tessier on Richardson Road for a time of fellowship and refreshments.
Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.
