
EAST CORINTH - Roy Adams Olsen, 62, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Manhattan, N.Y. on Aug. 30, 1945, the son of Hugh and Dr. Frances (Adams) Olsen. In 1958, the family moved to East Corinth. He graduated from Stowe Preparatory School in Stowe in 1963. He attended Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center, and the University of Vermont.
He worked at the John Williams Chicken Farm and at Pierson's Service Station prior to opening Olsen's TV in East Corinth and later in Bradford. He also worked for The TV Guy in Woodsville, N.H. and P.E. Fletcher in Nashua, N.H. In later years he was employed by Bombardier in Barre and IBM in Williston.
On Dec. 9, 1972, he was married to Lillian Ricker.
Roy enjoyed snowmobiling, dirt biking and working on cars.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; a son Adam and wife Rachel of East Corinth; three daughters, Shannon and husband Anthony Warburton of Bradford, Heather and husband Eric Nault of Las Vegas, Nev., and Robin and friend Bryan of East Thetford; two brothers, Toby and wife Janet of East Corinth, and Earl and wife Lee of Higganum, Conn.; one sister, Aina Jo and husband Dr. Thomas Barnwell III of Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the East Corinth Congregational Church. A celebration of Roy's life will be on Friday, Aug. 29 at 10 a.m., also at the East Corinth Congregational Church.
