NORTH MONTPELIER - Russell H. McQueen, 61, died Nov. 6, 2008, at the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin.

He was born on Feb. 19, 1947, in Barre City, the son of the late Olin and Bianca (Minoli) McQueen of Barre. He attended Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding Hugh School in 1965.

He worked as a machinist and carpenter for various companies in central and southern Vermont. He started Russ' Auto Body, which he continued for 10 years before forming Russ McQueen's Building and Renovation Co., which he operated until his death.

He was an avid fisherman and motorcyclist, serving as chapter president of Freedom of the Road - Vermont. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post #3 Montpelier.

He was first married to Shelley Goodrich who died in 1995. He later married Connie Bragdon and Theresa St. Pierre.

Besides his fiancée, Kerrie Campbell of North Montpelier, he is survived by his son David McQueen of Surprize, Ariz.; his daughter Tracy McQueen of Phoenix, Ariz.; a granddaughter; three stepdaughters; five step-grandchildren; as well as his sister, Carole Capron of Chattanooga, Tenn., and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and a grandson, Christopher Torrey.

His committal service will be held at the Hope Cemetery in Barre at a time to be announced in the spring of 2009. There are no calling hours.

The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre, is in charge of the arrangements.
