BARRE CITY - A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Thomas "Tom" McCallum, 76, of Center Street, was held on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Chapel in Randolph Center, Vermont. He passed away on Nov. 7, 2017, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont.
The Rev. Leopold J. Bilodeau, former pastor of St. Monica Catholic Church of Barre, led the service.
Scripture readings from the Old Testament were read by his brother-in-law, Larry Raidl, and Gheslane Raidl, sister, read from the New Testament.
Father Bilodeau read the gospel and proclaimed the homily.
Burial with full military honors followed the service with Father Bilodeau reading the committal prayers. Military honors were accorded the deceased by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Team of White River Junction, Vermont. Volleys were fired and taps sounded by the American Legion, Post #9, of Randolph Center, Vermont. The American flag was folded and presented to his wife, Lise McCallum.
Following the service, family and friends gathered at the Canadian Club in Barre for a time of fellowship and luncheon.
Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre, Vermont.
