MONTPELIER - Yvonne B. Lane, loving mother and devoted wife, born in New Richmond, Quebec, on July 25, 1918, to Emilia and Andre Normandeau, peacefully passed away at Vermont Respite House in Williston, Vt. She was a 1938 graduate of St. Michael High School where she played violin in the school orchestra. After working for several state of Vermont agencies, she started work in 1965 at the Vermont State Employees Credit Union in Montpelier, retiring in 1984. Following her retirement from the credit union, she went to work part time for the Vermont State Housing Authority, retiring from there in 1985.

Since coming to this country at the age of 11 until her death, she resided in Montpelier. She was able to live in her home at 336 Elm St. for 57 years, a home where she and her husband, Richard L. Lane Sr., whom she married April 19, 1941, at St. Augustine Church, raised their children and it was the gathering place for her large and loving extended family.

Yvonne is survived by her sole remaining sibling, Rollande T. Fraser, of Montpelier; and by her children, Richard L. Lane Jr. and his wife, Michele, of Florida, Priscilla L. Alexander, of Montpelier, and Susan C. Robillard and her husband, Arthur, of Warner Robins, Ga.; grandchildren Susan Alexander Levy, Master Sgt. David A. Alexander (U.S. Marine Corps), both of California, Elizabeth Lane Kellogg and Stephen Lane, both of Maine, and Erin Robillard Melton, of Texas; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, but especially, her niece Linda Normandeau and her husband, William Doelger, who gave so much of themselves to help provide her with comfort and care, and her nephew Michael McNulty, who was a frequent visitor.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard; her sisters Stella Lucas, Lauria LeMay and Rita McNulty; her brothers, Marcel, Lucien, Maurice, Conrad and Joseph Edward Normandeau.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, Montpelier. There are no calling hours.

The family is thankful for the loving care Yvonne received provided by Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, VT 05641, in particular by Debbie Bell, LNA, Stephanie Davis, RN, and Amanda Shiverick, as well as the wonderfully supportive staff and volunteers at Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, VT 05495. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Yvonne's memory to either of these organizations.
