BARRE TOWN - The funeral service for Raymond M. LaCroix, 85, of Pine Hill Road, was celebrated Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. He died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at his home.

The Rev. Leopold Bilodeau, pastor of the church, was the celebrant and was assisted by crucifer and altar server Lawrence Reilly.
Organist Rosie Badeau accompanied singers Ronald Routhier, Romeo Bilodeau and Nick Conti in the hymns "Be Not Afraid," "Song of Farewell" and "J'irai La Voir Un Jour."
Soloist Sarah Pitts, granddaughter, sang "Amazing Grace." Lise Messier sang "Ave Maria," "Panis Angelicus" and "AuCiel."
The eulogy was given by Raymond's sister, Soeur Mariette LaCroix, and son, Leo LaCroix.
Readings from the Old and New Testaments were done by grandchildren Ryan and Haley LaCroix, and Erin and Kelsey LaCroix.
The prayer of the faithful was read by grandchildren Melissa LaCroix, Emily Pitts, Andrew Fitch and Nick Matteis.
Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by granddaughters Olivia Matteis, Cameron LaCroix, Ashleigh Fitch, Avery LaCroix and Audrey Fitch.
All 22 grandchildren participated in the Mass; they traveled from California, Montana, Oklahoma, Cambodia, Colorado and North Carolina to attend and to pay their last respects to their Pepe.
Pallbearers were grandchildren Keith LaCroix, Kyle LaCroix, Nathan LaCroix, Ian LaCroix, Ben Pitts, Taylor LaCroix and Jess Pitts. An honorary guard was provided by members of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.
Burial took place in the family lot at Hope Cemetery, where Father Leo offered committal prayers.
Following the burial, family and friends gathered at the Canadian Club for a time of fellowship and luncheon.
Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.
