MONTPELIER - John M. "Jack" Pecue, 78, of Pioneer Apartments, Montpelier, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Woodridge Nursing Home.

He was born Aug. 29, 1935, in Montpelier, Vermont, the son of Floyd B. Pecue and Eleanor (Niles) Pecue. Jack attended Montpelier public schools and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1954.
Following graduation from high school, Jack entered the U.S. Navy on Nov. 12, 1954, and spent most of his time in the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bennington visiting ports in South America but mostly throughout the Pacific. He was discharged on Nov. 10, 1958.
He was employed at National Life Insurance Co. for 32 years and worked in the record center and mailroom. Jack retired in 1990. He enjoyed spending many years at the family hunting camp in Moretown, where he would get together with family and friends throughout the year.
Jack was married in 1967 to Cathryn Leete in South Ryegate, Vermont.
He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Pecue Ducharme, of Barre Town, Vermont; grandson Ty Ducharme; granddaughter Jayme Ducharme, of Williamstown, Vermont; son Shawn S. Pecue and granddaughter Rebekah Shatney, of East Calais, Vermont; brother Thomas Pecue and his wife, Joyce, of Venice, Florida; two nephews, Michael and Gregory Pecue, and a niece, Mary Page; and several cousins.
Family services with military honors will be held privately. Burial will be in the family lot in Berlin Corners Cemetery.
