Gary DeCouteau Obituary

MONTPELIER – Gary A. DeCoteau, 67, of Sebring, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, N.Y.

Born June 1, 1941, in Montpelier, he was the son of Harley and Katherine Smith DeCoteau and graduated from Montpelier High School.

He married Carol Lawrence on June 10, 1961, at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Barre.

DeCoteau worked as a manager for Capital Candy in Barre, delivered bread for Cross Bakery in Montpelier, managed the golf course and restaurant at Northfield Country Club in Northfield, and Copley Country Club in Morrisville.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching movies.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; two daughters and their husbands, Julie and Mike Thomas of Evans Mills, N.Y., and Lisa and William Evans of Barre; two sons, Joseph DeCoteau of Sebring, and Cory DeCoteau of Stewart, Fla.; brother, Danny DeCoteau of Montpelier; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

All services will be private. Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., 38422 NYS Route 37, Theresa, N.Y.

Donations may be made to the American Heart Association National Center, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX, 75231.
