WEBSTERVILLE - Muriel M. Butler Grenon, 85, of Brook Street, died early Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at her home with her family at her side.

Born on May 1, 1927, in Websterville, she was the daughter of Margaret (Finnegan) Butler and Robert Butler. She attended the Websterville Graded School and graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in June 1945. She went on to attend Johnson Teachers College in 1946.
On Oct. 12, 1962, she married Louis Roger Grenon. They always made their home in Websterville. He died on Dec. 5, 2008.
Muriel had worked for the state of Vermont Department of Employment Security in Montpelier until 1963, when she retired to care for her family. For many years, she served as a clerk and tax collector for Fire District 3. In earlier years during high school, she worked at Lawson's Store in Websterville and served as clerk and the postmaster replacement in the Websterville Post Office, serving under six different postmasters.
Muriel enjoyed knitting, doing puzzles, and taking trips in the car. She especially enjoyed the several trips she took to Disney World in Florida.
Survivors include her two sons, Timothy Grenon and James Grenon and his wife, Deseree, all of Websterville; two granddaughters, Amanda, of Derry, N.H., and Melanie, of Boston; a great-granddaughter, Kaydence, of Derry, N.H.; her sister Lorraine Marcotte and her husband, Gerald, of New Hampshire; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Clark, Marie Blow and her husband, Gordon, all of Websterville, and Muriel A. Grenon, of Plainfield; several nieces and nephews; and also her extended family the Rubalcabas, Cynthia, Patricia, Michael and Steven.
Besides her husband, a sister, Patricia B. Rubalcaba, predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. in St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Graniteville. Entombment will take place in the Hooker and Whitcomb vault in Barre to await later interment in the St. Sylvester Cemetery in Websterville.
Family and friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, on Wednesday, Dec. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.
