BLOOMFIELD, Ind. - Deloris "Dee" Childress, 80, of Bloomfield, and formerly of Central City, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Bell Trace Living Center in Bloomington.

She was born March 4, 1932, in Noblesville, to Harry A. and Edith (Earl) McAvoy.
She was married to Lester "Gene" Childress on Dec. 23, 1950.
Dee was an avid sports fan who loved NASCAR racing, Indiana and Kentucky basketball, and Indianapolis Colts football. Dee was also an avid music lover and attended many gospel and country music events.
She was a member of Faith Christian Church in Bloomfield, and also a member of the Furnace Club Greene County Extension Homemakers.
She is survived by three sons, Charles "Chuck" (Angie) Childress, of Boonville, Jeffrey "Clyde" (Suzanne) Childress, of Hardingburg, Ky., and Ronald (Lisa) Childress, of Bloomfield; sister Becky (Jim) Scott, of Atlanta, Ind.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and a nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Lester "Gene" Childress; a brother, Joe Sylvester; and a sister, Joyce Helterbrand.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
