BARRE CITY - Marie Ange Nadeau, 99, of 27 Foss St., Barre, Vermont, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018.
She was born June 14, 1919, in Bromptonville, Quebec. She was the last survivor and the 13th of 16 children of the late Theodore and Marie-Anna (Fournier) Roy.
In 1947, she married Armand Nadeau in Sherbrooke, Quebec. They made their home in Williamstown and raised their family. Marie Ange learned English and became a citizen of United States. In 1957, they owned and operated Nadeau's Snack Bar in Williamstown until Armand's death in 1972.
In 1977, she moved to Derby Line to be a housekeeper for Father Donald Roy. She moved to Barre in 1979, where she had lived since. She was a member of the St. Edward Church in Williamstown, the St. Edward Church in Derby Line, and more recently, the St. Monica Church in Barre. She also held membership in the Ladies of Ste. Anne Society.
Survivors include her daughter, Lillian Jarvis; two sons, Norm and his wife, El, and Bob and his wife, Nancy; daughter-in-law Lynn Nadeau; seven grandchildren, Necia Gorton, Tony Nadeau, Cheryl Boette, Amy Nadeau, Ray Nadeau, Amanda Nadeau, Dan Nadeau; four great-grandchildren Allie Gorton, Cassie Gorton, Destiny Nadeau, Calab Nadeau; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, siblings and husband Armand, she was predeceased by her firstborn son, Donald Nadeau, and grandchild Shannon Nadeau.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre, with burial to follow in St. Sylvester Cemetery in Websterville, Vermont. Extra parking is available in the St. Monica parking lot.
