Barbara J. (Weelborg) Johnson, 82, passed away February 28th from an extended illness, in the care of hospice, at her daughters home in Longmont Colorado. Her daughter (Stacy Thennis) was by her side and cared for her mother until the end. Barbara was born April 20th, 1931 in Hazel South Dakota to Clarence and Lucille Weelborg. Barbara grew up in South Dakota. She graduated in 1946. After high school she moved to Helena, Montana and worked as a Telephone Switch Board Operator. In 1952 she married Grant H. Johnson and had three children. She retired in 1993. After retirement, she and her husband traveled throughout the United States. Barbara enjoyed her later years of life in Longmont, Colorado with her family and friends she met through the Senior Citizen Center, in addition to many other Senior Citizen groups she belonged to. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Grant, her parents (Clarence and Lucille), brother Keith, sisters Arlene and Janice, and infant son Curtis. Barbara is survived by her sister Mary Lou in Minnesota, Son Garrett in Helena, Montana along with her grandchildren of Garrett's (Bo and Chance). Her daughter Stacy Thennis and husband (Sam) in Longmont and grandchildren Tara Jorgensen, Trisha Mazzotta and husband (Matthew), Tawnya White and husband (Tyler) as well as her 10 great-grandchildren: Makayla, Athena, Jaylene, Hailey, Sam, Cade, Liam, Tanner, Teagan, and Tazer. The family would like to give special thanks to the employees of Halcyon Hospice for the outstanding care, given to Barbara, during her last weeks of life. An additional special thanks to Sam and Jack for their support and loving friendship. Memorial service 1:00 PM Sunday March 9th at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel 326 Terry St. Longmont, CO 80501.
