Doyle George Smith, formerly of Longmont, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2014 in Ogden, Utah. He was born on October 24, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Doil Asa Smith and Berenice Nina (Sydlinker) Smith. He grew up in Salt Lake City and Fort Collins, Colorado. He served in the navy in World War II
. Doyle married Phyllis Gertrude Coverdell on September 3, 1950 in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Colorado. Doyle was a CPA and then worked at IBM, Boulder. They raised their family in Colorado until he accepted an assignment in 1985 to teach Math at Weber State College in Utah as an advisor to the Native Americans through an IBM exchange program. Doyle served in many callings in both church and civic responsibilities. He was recently honored as a member of the Lion's club for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, and children: Deborah K. (Bill) Blick, of Longmont, Pamela S. (Merrill) Smith of Syracuse, UT, Lisa L. (Bill) Lewellen of Grand Junction, Doyle "Mick" (Diane) Smith of Springville, UT and Kimberly A. (Guy) Nalder of Roy, UT, 20 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and one brother, Gayle W. Smith of Michigan. Services were held Friday, July 18th with interment at Leavitt's Memorial Garden in Ogden, Utah.
