Edward W. Yusko, 92, died January 16, 2013 in Longmont CO. He was born February 14, 1920 in Rossiter, Pennsylvania to Andrew and Frances (Martin) Yusko. Ed enlisted in the United States Navy on Jan.16, 1942. He saw duty aboard the USS Nashville in the Asiatic-Pacific theater, which included participation in the Philippine Liberation. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 11, 1945. On January 15, 1949 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Queens, NY he married Jeanne M. Losee. They lived in New City, NY until moving to Longmont in 1995. Ed was a typewriter repairman for the Olivetti-Underwood company. He retired in 1982. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, where he served regularly as an usher. He was also a member of the American Legion in New City, NY. Ed is remembered as a loving husband and father. He was active in the lives of his children, coaching baseball and with the Cub Scouts. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, roller skating and telling a good story. He was preceded in death by his parents, 12 brothers and sisters and wife Jeanne in 2003. Ed is survived by his son Edward G. Yusko (wife Jennifer) of Dublin, Ireland, daughter Karen Matthews (husband Bill) of Longmont; and three grandchildren Christy Matthews, Megan Yusko and Alex Yusko. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 6:00pm on Monday Jan. 21, 2013 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with a Vigil service beginning at 4:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Tuesday, Jan. 22 at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church. Interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
