Jacob Kreilich

Anchorage resident, Jacob Donald "Jay D" Kreilich, 23, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in Anchorage. A celebration of Jay D's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Anchorage Funeral Home, 1800 Dare Ave. in Anchorage. Additional services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place in Boulder, CO. Graveside services will follow and he will be laid to rest at the Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder, CO. Jay D was born November 30, 1990 in Anchorage, Alaska. He moved to Barrow in 2000 and had graduated from Barrow High School in 2009. Jay D was an exceptional and accomplished wrestler during high school and was a team captain. He knew how to defeat his opponents before the matches. Jay D moved to Anchorage in 2012 and was currently working as an offshore roustabout for ASRC Energy Services. His work took him to the North Slope, Valdez and to Kodiak. He was very outgoing and loved anything that had to do with the outdoors. Jay D loved snowboarding with family and friends. One of his biggest loves was playing hockey. He started out very young and had become an extremely good player later in life. "Jay D loved the song 'The Cave," by Mumford and Sons. He played it every night before he went to bed while he was in Florida in April of 2013. Jay D was the "ultimate playground," according to his 8 year old niece; she could climb on him and play with him whenever he was around," wrote the family. Jay D was preceded in death by his niece, Hailee Shelley. He is survived by his father, James Kreilich of Barrow, AK; mother Kim Chartier and her husband, Troy and their daughter, Dakotah Chartier all of Longmont, CO; brother, Joshua Kreilich and his wife, Ryann and their children, Taylor, Jordyn and Jayden all of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Jaimie Shelley and her husband, Gordon and their children, Connor and Brooklyn all of Denver, CO; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and close friends in Alaska.
