John R. "Johnny" Chetham

John R. "Johnny" Chetham, 56, of Longmont, died December 3, 2011 at Longmont United Hospital after a short illness.

Johnny was born November 17, 1955 in Everett, Massachusetts to John H. and Claire (Zellen) Chetham. He attended schools in Massachusetts and received his certificate of completion diploma from Joseph P. Keefe Technical High School in 1977. Johnny worked for Stain Safe, packaging cleaning products. He had an important task of sweeping and cleaning his area, which he took pride in, and always wanted to complete the job independently. Johnny also worked for David's Bridal vacuuming the large showroom. In Colorado, Johnny was a client with Community Advantage, in Longmont, where he socialized and assisted with volunteer programs such as Meals on Wheels.

Johnny, along with his Mother and Father, moved from Sudbury, MA to Longmont in May of 2004 leaving behind Johnny's "White House" of 43 years! Johnny loved music from Wizard of Oz to Western music and was a great fan of Lawrence Welk. Johnny loved bowling and baseball with the Special Olympics. He enjoyed singing, and dancing. Johnny found great happiness with Disney character toys and especially, Alvin and the chipmunks.

Johnny made so many people smile and laugh. He led an amazing life and now has joined his Dad in Heaven where he will have everyone singing and laughing. The many people that have befriended him in his life will miss him, especially his immediate family.

He is preceded in death by his Father, John H. Chetham, and Uncle Richard Chetham.

Johnny is survived by his Mother, Claire of Longmont, CO; three siblings Susan Chetham Howard of VA, Paul Chetham of Denver and Steven Chetham of Boulder, nieces and nephews, Rebecca Atkinson, Sean Howard, Megan Howard, Rachel Chetham, Sarah Chetham, Michael Chetham, Ryan Chetham and Matthew Chetham, and new Grand Nephew Benjamin Atkinson. Also survived by a special friend/caretaker Judy Killenback.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 14, 2012 at The Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue in Longmont.
