Ruth Ashing

Ruth H. Ashing, 93 years of Lincoln, Nebraska died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at The Arbors in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born April 23, 1920 to Ernest and Myrtle (Bowman) Davis in Macy, Nebraska. She grew up in Decatur, Nebraska and graduated from Decatur High School in 1940. She attended school in Boulder, CO and received her LPN degree. She married Orville Blue in 1941, and they farmed near Tekamah. The couple later divorced. In 1957 she moved to Boulder, Colorado and then to Longmont, Colorado in 1984. She worked as a LPN, EEG Tech and EKG Tech at Boulder Memorial Hospital and Longmont United Hospital in Colorado, retiring in 1982. Ruth maried Ray Ashing and he died in 1995. She moved to Lincoln, NE in 1997. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at College View in Lincoln, Nebraska and a former member of the VFW Auxiliary in Longmont, Colorado. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Janet and husband, Joe Spellerberg of Fremont, Nebraska and Rita Blue of Lincoln; grandchildren, Jodi Gilson and John Engen and great grandchildren, Alex Gilson and Ben Gilson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Lenton Davis, Kelly Davis, John "Pete" Davis and Kenneth Davis; sisters, Iva Kellogg, Agnes Kroll, Mary Boswell and Lois Schnuelle. The Funeral Service will be Friday, November 29, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, Nebraska. Visitation with family receiving friends will be one hour prior to service time. Pastor Adrian Atkins will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer 's Association..
