Our loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Ruth B. Crandal of Longmont, Colorado returned home to her Heavenly Father on December 28, 2012. Ruth B. Crandal was born January 17, 1922 in Wellsville, Utah to Joseph and Florence Brenchley. She married Robert P. Crandal on July 1, 1944 in Logan, Utah, marriage later solemnized in the Logan Temple. They moved from Ogden, Utah to Sacramento, California where they raised their family. In 1976 they moved to Bountiful, Utah where they lived until they moved to Longmont in 2009. Ruth met Bob during World War II working at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. After they moved to Sacramento and started their family, Ruth became a great homemaker and mother. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She served in many church positions throughout her life. She was a very talented woman who was proficient at sewing, cooking, baking. She was a wonderful artist and painted lovely landscapes. She made beautiful clay sculptures, crocheted blankets and scarves, many of which were donated to people in need. She had a great love of her grandchildren and nothing would please her more than to be with them, especially loved taking them shopping. Ruth had an infectious smile and always made everyone feel welcome and loved. She loved her friends in Bountiful and had a great time going to lunch or just hanging out at her house. Her friends at the Regent all loved Ruth for her great smile and a hug and kiss for everyone. She will be missed by all who knew her. Ruth is survived by a son, Raymond Crandal and wife Heidi of Newport Coast, CA; a daughter, Annette Thorsted and husband Wayne of Berthoud, CO; eleven grandchildren: Mac, Paul, Staci, Ryan, Brent, Tyler, Jana, Christian, Patrick, Michael and Allison; and by 16 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Crandal, her son, Richard T. Crandal, her parents, her sisters, and her brother. The family would like to thank all the loving caregivers that helped Ruth this past year; including Hospice Care of Boulder County. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Howe Mortuary Chapel. Services and burial will be held at a later date in Bountiful, Utah.
