Bonnie Knight Obituary
Bonnie Jo Knight, loving wife of forty years, affectionate and patient mother of four, was an inspiration and credit to her community through her gifted care for others, died from complications due to ovarian cancer on Thursday evening, August 7 at a hospital near her home in Longmont, Colorado. She was 62. Bonnie, as a mother of four children, who were all very active in athletics at Boulder High School, was an enthusiastic supporter of her children and their teammates, driving carloads of happy kids to games weekend after weekend, serving refreshments, and hosting all kinds of related parties and events together with her husband, John, who coached many of the clubs. Always connected with her children, always interested in their development, always seeking to issue loving guidance and to bring out the best in those around her, Bonnie became an important person and a "second Mom" in the lives and hearts of many of her children's friends. She will be remembered for many things, including her wonderful laugh, her outpouring of comfort and compassion, and her ability to care when others didn't. As a mother she guided her children and instilled strong values and principles of compassion which will carry on for generations. As a grandmother she loved unconditionally, ever there to kiss boo boo's and wipe tears and wrap them in wonderful comforting hugs. Her life was defined by her family and her family defined her. When she looked you in the eyes you could feel her love. Dedicating her life to helping others, Bonnie embodied what it means to love. Bonnie was born in Buffalo, New York to Nancy and Jerry Riehman on August 24, 1951, and grew up with her sisters, Susan, Wendy, Judy and Carrie, in a big white house out in the rolling hills of Northwestern New York outside of the small town of North Collins. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from New England College, where she met her husband, John. Bonnie later attended SUNY Fredonia, where she earned a Master's Degree in Education. Bonnie is survived by her husband, John; son Adam; daughter Catherine and her husband Alex, and grandchildren Emma & Liam; son John and his wife Laura, and grandchildren Logan & Gavin; and daughter Emily and her husband Patrick.
