Donald Alexander Fraser Monteath III of Loveland, went to be with his Lord on December 15, 2014. He was 78 years old. He was born to Donald Alexander Fraser Monteath, Jr and Jesse Bremner in Oakland, CA on December 18, 1935. He married Pattye Wolfe in Greenville, SC on June 1, 1960. He was a member of Calvary Church in Longmont, CO and was active in the Prime Timers Sunday School class. He assisted in leading the class in Bible study and prayer. He served in the Army Reserve and retired as Sergeant Major. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with his master's degree in Speech Communication. He began his teaching career at Loveland Christian School and later continued teaching at Longmont Christian High School where he was involved in many different school activities. These included becoming the football coach for several years and working with his students in drama. He loved teaching. He enjoyed each one of his students and appreciated the staff so much at the school. His interest in history resulted in several trips accompanying students to Europe. He and Pattye visited places such as Normandy, France, Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, England and Holland. He, also, researched family geneology which resulted in 2 published books, The Westville Saga series. He enjoyed public speaking and used his skills in an earlier career as a radio announcer for several radio stations. He, also, had a love of theater which was evident in his community productions as actor and director. His most proud accomplishment was the Shakespearean play, King Lear, in which he portrayed King Lear. In 2004, he was honored for his 1954 college football achievements by being inducted into the Hall of Fame at Shasta Jr. College in Redding, CA. He is preceded in death by his son, Donald Monteath IV and his brother, Thomas Monteath. He is survived by his wife, Pattye, his daughter, Catherine Monteath Bonde of Lyons, and his 2 adored grandchildren Cole Bonde and Lauren Bonde of Lyons. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Calvary Church in Longmont. Private interment will be conducted Monday, December 22 at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Longmont Christian School in care of Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home & Crematory.

Don was a mentor and inspiration to me. He was like a second Father. My condolences and well wishes go out to Pattye and Catherine, whom I think of with fond memories.

Don was a man of great integrity, a thoughtful teacher, a mentor to many students. He was delighted when his students "got it." He was a genuinely all-around nice guy and true friend who loved his God. Our loss is truly heaven's gain. I will miss him dearly.
