Doris A. Knight, 80, lost her long tough battle with cancer on June 19, 2015 at home, with her family by her side. She was born March 27, 1935 in Longmont to Louis "Cotton" and Elizabeth (Beckman) Johnston. Doris grew up on a farm near Highland Lake and attended Mead Schools. Doris and Joe W. Knight were together for fifty six years in Longmont, where they lived and raised their children. Doris was a homemaker. She was a member of Elks Lodge 1055 Ladies Elks, for over 50 years. She was very involved volunteering in many of their programs. Doris was a very competitive cribbage and Bingo player. She loved her monthly Bunco group, and was an avid Rockies fan. Doris was a wonderful mother who loved spending time with her family. She was a great inspiration to everyone she met, always putting everyone else first. She will be deeply missed by all the many hearts she touched in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe W. in 2013, a daughter Angela Schreckengost, a sister, and one great grandchild. Doris is survived by son Joe Knight (Kim) of Longmont, four daughters; Charlotte Inskeep (Bob) of Loveland, Jo Lynn Fresquez (Matt) of Longmont, Tammy Smith (Larry Kreger), Kim Martin (Mike) both of Berthoud, son in law Keith Schreckengost of Longmont, sister in law Daisy Stewart of Longmont, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and many neighbors and dear loving friends. Memorial service will be held 11 AM Thursday July 2, 2015 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Private interment will be at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Elks Lodge 1055 and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
