Francisca Colunga Montanez, died on July 07, 2013, surrounded by family. She was born on August 27, 1927 to Bartolo Colunga and Tomasa Sandoval in Matehuala, Mexico. She moved to Texas in 1946 where she lived for 44 years before moving to Colorado. In 1945, she married Apolonio Montañez.
Francisca enjoyed cooking, knitting and gardening. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Apolonio and their children: Maria De Los Angeles (Jay Newby) of Palatine, IL, Jose Maria Montañez (Isabel) of San Juan, TX, Francisco Montañez (Jade) of Waxahachie, TX, Arturo Montañez (Natalia) of Lake Jackson, TX, Domingo Montañez of Lamar, Texas, Janie Serna (Rudy Serna) of Hillsboro, TX, Samuel Montañez of San Juan, TX, Sylvia Montañez (David McLoughlin) of Carmel, IN and Cynthia Montañez of Longmont, CO.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four children: Juan Montañez, Maria Teresa Mendez, Rosa Elia Aguirre, and Maria De La Luz Montañez and two grandchildren: Christopher Lee Rosales and Santos Aguirre Jr.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
