Ida Cavendor Obituary

Ida Pauline "Polly" Cavendor died June 10, 2014 at Longmont United Hospital. She was born February 7, 1926 in Eastland, Texas to George Washington and Stella Mae (Ritchie) Uttz.

She grew up in and graduated high school in Odessa, TX. Polly earned a BS in Physical Education and Teaching from Texas Tech University in 1948.

Polly married Marion N. Cavendor on February 1, 1948 at the Disciples of Christ Church in Odessa, TX.

Polly began her teaching career in Lubock, TX while Marion completed his engineering degree at Texas Tech. Over the next many years she taught in several cities, including Williamsburg, PA, Little Rock, AR, Fairmount, WV and Owensboro, KY; where she and Marion lived as he worked for Westinghouse Electric Corp.

She was a loving stay at home mom while raising her two children Lisa and Philip. After they had completed high school Polly returned to teaching as a substitute.

Polly was also an active member of Central Christian Church in Fairmount, WV, as well as at other church's where she had lived. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

Following their retirement Polly and Marion moved to Benton, AR in 1985 and resided there until moving to Longmont on June 30, 2011.

She enjoyed doing many crafts. Polly loved to engage and work with people in the making and purchase of her crafts. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Jo Earl Kobdish and Katherine Elder.

Polly is survived by her husband Marion of Longmont, daughter Lisa Mills (Willy) of Sheridan, WY and son Philip N. Cavendor (Gail) of Longmont, six grandchildren Jane Crayton, Peter Crayton (Isabella), Stephen Crayton, Andrew N. Cavendor (Ellen), Kaleen Mills and Justin Mills, and two great grandchildren Jared Osterlund and Olivia Crayton.

A memorial prayer service will be held at 5:00pm Friday, June 13, 2014 at Ahblerg Fuenral Chapel; with visitation from 4:30pm to 6:30. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Fuenral Chapel and Crematory. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
