John Marchino Obituary
John Joseph Marchino, Sr. of Longmont, died June 23, 2014 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 72. John was born on December 23, 1941 in Harvey, Illinois to Vito Marchino and Connie VanDyke Marchino. John was raised in the greater Chicago area and following high school attended and graduated from Northern Illinois University. John married Judy Berden on September 7, 1962 in Niles, Michigan. The Marchino's moved to Longmont in 1979. John worked as a controller in the manufacturing industry. He worked over the course of 36 years, with Teledyne, Complex Tooling and Molding, and InterTech Plastics prior to his retirement. John was a man of great faith who served his Savior and Church for many years. Attending Rocky Mountain Christian Church, he served as an Elder for 13 years. In addition, he was a Sunday School Teacher and led an adult Bible study for 18 years. He was an enthusiastic member of the Sunset Men's Golf Club. He was a dedicated Rockies fan, avid golfer, loved to read and travel. John's favorite roll in life was to be Papa to his grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart, and was especially proud that he passed on his sense of humor to the next generation. Surviving are his wife of Longmont; daughter Vicky Marchino of Longmont; sons Dr. John (Laura) Marchino, Jr. of Durango, Colorado; James (Missy) Marchino of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and Tony Marchino of Bonsall, California; 5 grandchildren Gabrielle, Vito, and Isabelle Marchino and Drew and Devin Lewis; two sisters Sandy (Chuck) Conner of Sun City Arizona and Cheryl (Alan) Baker of Homewood, Illinois; a nephew Rick Conner of Fairfax, Virginia and a niece Katie Baker. As well as many friends and co-workers, including his good buddy Tom Gregory. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 29 at the Howe Mortuary Community Room. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 30 at the Rocky Mountain Christian Church. If you knew John, please stop by and join the celebration of his wonderful life.
