Palmie Martinez Obituary
Palmie Martinez, 88, of Longmont passed away at home peacefully on July 1, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 28, 1924 in Cokedale, Co. to Abundo and Manuelita (Muniz) Martinez. Palmie was very loved and cherished by all those around her. She was lovingly called "Sweetie" and "Little Gram" by her great grand-children. She was a loving mother and aunt who shared very special bonds with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was always there to love and lend a helping hand to those who needed it. She will be fondly remembered for her great cooking, especially her empanadas, noodle casserole, salsa, tortillas and sweet rice. She enjoyed shopping for treasures and loved adding to her cookie jar collection. She enjoyed spending the evenings outside enjoying her garden and spending time with her family. She is very much loved and will be deeply missed by her family and all those who loved her. Survivors include her six children, Lizzy Montano (Sonny), Christine Sandoval, Minnie Medina, Sandy Borrego (Tony), Rose Duran (Mike), Daniel Martinez; 15 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brothers Ray (Lidia) Martinez, Roger (Cruz) Martinez, Richard (Mickie) Martinez, Sisters Florence Quinonez, Jenny Jaramllo, Francis (Willy) Montoya, sister in law Cruz Martinez, several nieces and nephews and extended family. Special survivors include Johnny (Dorothy) Martinez, Little Joe Martinez, Linda Marquez and Patricia (Wiggy) Garcia. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers Henry and Gilbert Martinez, Sisters Maclovia Barela, Sally Martinez, Annie Duran, Rosie Sanchez and her god son Alex Barela. A Public Visitation will be held from 1-4pm followed by a Rosary at 4:00pm on Sunday, July 7th at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel. The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 on Monday, July 8th at New Creation Christian Church. Interment will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
