Edwin Dreher Obituary
Edwin "Ed" Peter Dreher, of Longmont passed away at his residence on Sunday, May 18, 2014. He was 89. The fifth of nine children, Edwin was born on October 1, 1924 in Liebenthal, KS to Vincent and Melosina Dreher. Ed served 2 years in the U.S. Army and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Edwin married Carmen Messina on September 19, 1949. In October 2013, Ed and Carmen celebrated 64 years of marriage. Ed is survived by his wife Carmen; two daughters, Joanne (Dave) Landolt and Cindy Dreher; a brother, Clement (Phyllis) Dreher; two sisters, Virginia Lynch and Mary Schoendoller; five grandchildren, Scott, Gina (Michael) Wedermyer, Mary, Stephanie (Brent) Johnson, and Mark (Melissa) and three great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Adam and Holley. His work career included farming for eight years in Longmont, the owner of a student house in Boulder affiliated with the University of Colorado for eleven years, and a custodian for the St. Vrain Valley School District for thirteen years. Ed retired in 1986. Ed joined the Our Lady of Victory Chapel on August 17, 1975. As a parishioner, he worked with his brother Adolph making improvements for the church. All the members of the congregation will remember him as jovial as well as a devout Catholic. A viewing will take place from 4pm-6pm with a Rosary at 7pm, on Wednesday, May 21 at the Carroll-Lewellen Chapel, 503 Terry St. in Longmont. A Requiem Mass will be 10am, Thursday, May 22 at Our Lady of Victory Chapel, 2566 Sable Blvd., Aurora, CO 80011. Interment will be at the Longmont Mountain View Cemetery at 12:30pm on Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Victory Chapel. Share condolences at www.howemortuary.com
