Patricia Ann Malone, 73, of Lyons died November 29, 2012 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. She was born September 28, 1939 in Akron, Ohio to Arthur C. and Ruth (Buttriss) Poe. Her father's work in education took the family to such varied locations as La Push, Washington, American Samoa, and Pensacola, Florida. Her lifelong love of horses began at Holland Stables in Pensacola. She received credit from several universities including Florida State and Auburn. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Oklahoma University and became a lifelong student of advanced physics. Ann married Kenneth Malone on November 18, 1977 in Golden, Colorado. In 1985 Ann and Ken moved to the Spring Gulch Ranch Estates northwest of Lyons, Colorado having built their long dreamed of home in the mountains. A few of her Spring Gulch community activities included working with the Lyons Community Food Pantry, serving as a group leader for the Spring Gulch Emergency Plan, and a founding member of a local book club in 2000. Ann is remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Many people loved her as she touched their lives, caring deeply about their need and concerns. Beloved family members included her horses and dogs, with a fond place in her heart for the fruits of a very green thumb. She is preceded in death by her parents. Ann is survived by her husband Ken, son Ken Wolfe (wife Sandie), daughter Carol Ann Turpin (husband Randy), grandchildren Lindsay Wolfe, Ryan L. Turpin (wife Tera), Chris Turpin and Ashlea Turpin Jones, great granddaughter Alora Turpin and her brother Arthur Poe, III. Funeral services will be held 10:00am Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. A reception will follow immediately at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
