John Luebke Obituary
John R. Luebke of Longmont died March 23, 2013 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 65 years old. He was born in 1947 to Earl John and Rebecca (Gordon-Clark) Luebke in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. He grew up in Fort Atkinson, graduating from Fort High School in 1965. John entered the United States Marine Corps and served his country from 1965 to his honorable discharge in 1972. John married Pamela Kaminen and they were later divorced. On July 12, 1981 in Boulder he married Karen A. Lamping. They have made their home in Longmont since 1982. He had a long career in law enforcement, beginning with the Lake County Sherriff's Office in Illinois. John joined the Boulder Police Department in September of 1979 and retired in June of 2010. He was very proud of his involvement in organizing the Police Department Honor Guard, where he served for many years. Currently he was a full time driver for Community Food Share. John enjoyed bowling and playing in softball leagues with his sons. He is remembered as a loving husband and father, who enjoyed hanging out with his family and always being there for them. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant granddaughter Clark Prout. John is survived by his wife Karen of Longmont, five children Michael (Dawn) Luebke of Gurnee, Ill., Amanda (Ray) Deatherage of Lindenhurst, Ill., Bradley (Mary Alice) Luebke of Greeley, CO, Robin (Jon) Prout and Kyle (Holly) Luebke of Longmont, ten grandchildren Hadde and Elle Luebke, Colton, Chase and Colin Deatherage, Abby Luebke, Eli, Gray and Jameson Prout and Deklin Luebke, three sisters Leigh Cole of Boulder, Debra Luebke of Louisville and Lori Luebke of Milliken. John is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Ron and Marlene Lamping and their family. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00pm Tuesday March 26 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with family present to greet friends. Funeral services will be 10:30am Wednesday March 27 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church. Honors by the Boulder Police Department Honor Guard and American Legion Post 32. Cremation will follow the funeral service at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
