Obituary Condolences

Marvin L. "Pete" Peterson passed away on March 25, 2013 under hospice care while at the Life Care Center. He was 89. Marv was born on May 12, 1923 in Sherrard, Illinois to Walter and Minnie (Fehr) Peterson. He received degrees from Augustana College (Rock Island, III.) and Northwestern University (Evanston, III.) He also graduated as a navigator in the U.S. Air Force during WW II. Marvin married Margaret Zoe Gosse (Peggy) on April 17, 1946 in Peoria, Illinois. They were looking forward to their 67th anniversary. They have two sons, Craig and Mark. Marv worked as a petroleum geologist and retired from Shell Oil Company. After retirement he worked as a consultant for several independent oil companies. His career took them to Casper, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Lafayette, Louisiana and Midland, Texas. His faith was an integral part of his daily life and routine. He taught adult Sunday School classes for many years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont. Marv and Peggy delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. He enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, doing crosswords and spending time with his sons at their sports. Marv and Peggy retired to Tyler, Texas. Three years ago they relocated to Longmont and moved into the Atria Retirement Center. Marvin is survived by his wife, Peggy, his sons Craig (Kim) and Mark (Ruth), 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His beloved grandson, Beau, recently passed away. A memorial service will be held on April 12, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with a reception following. Memorial gifts can be sent to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
