Shirley F. Curtis, 84, of Longmont, passed away July 17, 2013 after a long battle with breast cancer. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family. She was born June 6, 1929 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Harry and Harriett (Savage) Beale. Shirley married Donald J. Curtis on November 20, 1948; they moved to Longmont in 1998 from Walden, New York to be close to their daughter Linda and granddaughters. Shirley was a homemaker, and also an accountant for J.C. Penny's for twenty years. She was of the Episcopal faith and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a master gardener. The most important thing in her life was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Bob DeRonde of Longmont and a grandson, Nicholas Greenberg of New Hampshire in 2007, and two sisters; Doris Furtado of Rhode Island and Ruth Tompkins of New York. Shirley is survived by her husband Donald, a son David Curtis, two daughters; Nancy Greenberg and husband Nathan and Linda DeRonde, and six grandchildren: Rachel, Adam, Chelsea and her husband Jayme, Kailynn, Andrew and Ethan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be 10:30 AM to 11AM Tuesday, July 23, with funeral service at 11 AM at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation to follow Service.
