Dorothy Tadich Obituary
Former Colorado Springs resident Dorothy Tadich, 89, died October 8, 2013 at Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday October 16 at Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette CO. Burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

Dorothy was born November 20, 1923 in Rupa, Slovenia, to Joseph and Rose (Grlj) Klarich. She emigrated to the United States when she was 7, arriving with her parents and her sister Vera aboard the M.S. Vulcania in 1930. The family settled in Tacoma, Washington. Dorothy graduated from Stadium High School in 1941 and attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where she studied Political Science. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.

Dorothy married Dmitri "Tad" Tadich on March 20, 1948 in Seattle, and embarked on an interesting life as an Army officer's wife, the mother of five children, and a small business owner.

Dorothy first came to Colorado Springs in the early 1960's when her husband served as an Army Intelligence Analyst at ENT Air Force Base. Tad and Dottie liked Colorado so much that they planned to retire here, which they did in 1977. After Tad's retirement, Dorothy owned and operated Dorothy's Uniforms in Colorado Springs for 20 years, eventually selling her successful business in 1997.

Following the death of her husband in 1997, Dorothy moved to Tacoma to live with her sister. She had lived in Tacoma for 15 years when she relocated to Balfour Retirement Community in July 2012.

In retirement, Dorothy enjoyed antique sales, where she was often a vendor; bowling; exercising at Curves; and the daily crossword puzzle.

She is survived by her five children: Kathy (Jim) Reese of St. Louis MO, John (Karen) Tadich of Ft. Collins, Nadeen (Jeff) Lester of Longmont, Kristeen Tadich of Bellevue NE, and Stephanie Tadich of Colorado Springs. Dorothy is also survived by her four granddaughters: Elaine (Jason) Reid of San Diego CA, Elyse Tadich of Washington DC, Jennifer (Trevor) Boswell of Phoenix AZ, and Joanna Lester of Boulder; her two grandsons: Jimmy Reese of Arvada and Christopher (Lauren) Reese of Littleton, and their children Mickala, Mikey, Joshua, Charlie, and Moxie.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dmitri Tadich; her parents; and her sister Vera Klarich.

Her family wrote: "Dorothy was truly a ray of sunshine in this world. Throughout her life, her outgoing personality and good nature made her the very best company." She will be deeply missed.

In memory of Dorothy, the family welcomes contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org
