William "Bill" DeLisle Obituary

Bill was born on August 22, 1923 in Lawrence, MA to Elizabeth C. Curtin and James H. DeLisle. He died peacefully on January 31, 2014 in Lafayette, CO.

Bill served 23 years in the Army during World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam Era. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After his retirement in 1966 he began his second career as a Printer at the University of Colorado for the next 23 years. Bill met and married Patricia W. Devlin in Albuquerque, NM in 1952. "Poppie" will always be remembered as a fun and loving grandfather.

Bill loved to camp and took his children and grandchildren on many trips. He was an avid Boston and CU fan and enjoyed the mountains with his best buddy Willard Pilkington, especially the town of Blackhawk.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, five siblings: Jeanette Langevin, James "Buddy" DeLisle, Charles DeLisle, Mary Nizak Rafone and Albert "Mooney" DeLisle.

Bill is survived by his brother John DeLisle (Ronnie), sisters-in-law, Mabelle Meadows, Marie Jennings and Alice Anne Pilkington; his children: Stephen DeLisle, Doreen Williams (John) and Nancy Powell (Randy); grandchildren: Bill Gamble, Beth DeLisle, Grace Powell, Seth Powell, Hillary Powell, Patrick DeLisle and Roxanne Williams; two great grandchildren: Kylie and Aleena DeLisle and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00pm, with a Vigil Service at 6:30pm Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be 11:00am Wednesday, Feb. 5 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Interment will be 2:15pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
