Arcisa REID

REID, Arcisa (Sis) Passed away peacefully at her nursing home, James Bay Care Centre, on December 17, 2012 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband Hugh in 2004; they were married 62 years. Sis is survived by her daughter, Linda, and her son, Bob. Sis and Hugh had three grandchildren: Michael, Shelby and Heather and three great grandchildren: Raven, Jet and Kallie. Sis was a very talented seamstress and cook. There wasn't anything she couldn't do with a sewing machine, a knitting needle or a crochet hook. She made countless intricate lace table cloths and afghan lapcovers which were donated to the Gorge Road Hospital. She also made all of her own clothes and her children's clothes. Every year for over 30 years, she would invite the large Reid family to dinner on Boxing Day and make her famous spaghetti with Italian sauce, radicchio salad and pickled onions. Sis enjoyed golfing with Hugh at the Gorge Vale Golf Club where she was a member for over 50 years. A special thank you goes to the nurses, doctors and care aides at James Bay Care Centre for the past three years and, prior to that, to the staff of Renaissance Retirement Home in Esquimalt, where she lived for 8 years. A celebration of Arcisa's life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1803 Quadra Street at 1:00 p.m. Flowers are respectfully declined by the family. Donations in Arcisa's memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
