Betty Buxton (Locke) LORIMER

LORIMER, Betty Buxton (nee Locke) Died peacefully on November 8th, 2012 in Victoria, B.C. in the presence of her family. Mum was born on May 14th, 1920 in Norwich, England to parents Arthur and Janet Locke. In 1928 the family immigrated to Canada and lived in Salmon Arm, B.C. before moving to Esquimalt in 1934, where she attended Lampson School. In 1938 they moved to Sooke. On May the 15th, 1939 she met one of the Lorimer boys, Duncan and that same year they were married on Dec. 01, 1939. During this time she worked as a telephone operator in Sooke. Mum inherited her father's artistic ability and found great enjoyment in drawing and painting. She also enjoyed making Birthday and Christmas gifts for her grandchildren. Never a harsh word spoken nor a judgemental thought, Mum believed in family first and will be missed by all. Mum was predeceased by Dad after 66 years of marriage in 2005 and her granddaughter Carrie in 2007. Mum leaves many loving memories to be cherished by her sons Darrell (Barbara), Alan (Janette), Glen (Mavis) and her daughter Janet (Glen McBride), 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and sister Ann Crockart. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Sunset Lodge. As per her request a funeral will not be held and any Memorial Donations may be made in Mum's name to the Sooke Museum, P.O. Box 774, Sooke, B.C. V9Z 1H7
