MILLIGAN, Douglas (Dougie) November 16,1936 - December 2, 2012 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved husband, Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend. Predeceased by his mother Lil, father Joe, brother Larry and nephew Denis. Doug was devoted to his family and leaves behind his wife and best friend Yvonne of 54 years, three children Mike, Janice, Rick (Chantel) and six grandchildren Jaime (Andrew), Kacey, Kate, Ty, Alex, Brett and his loving puppy Jackpot. Doug is also survived by his sister Wendy and brother-in-law Larry Mackenzie. He was much loved by his nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Dad was born and raised in Port Alberni, where he began his career working in the logging industry at a very young age. In 1974 after living in many small towns on the Island we made Victoria our home. He was actively involved in his children and grandchildren's sports, whether it be to Coach or vocally cheering from the stands. Dad loved his days on the golf course with his buddies John, Tommy and Terry. Everyone was entertained by his quick wit, and funny stories. He was an interesting, loving, wonderful man and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank their long time physician Dr. Dereck Smith and the staff at VGH. A celebration of Doug's life will be held on January 12th, 2013 at The Royal Colwood Golf Club. A shotgun start at noon until 3pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Doug to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Thank you Dad for everything you were and always will be to us, we love you. You will live in Mom's heart forever.
