Gordon William Woodward

Nov. 29, 1912 - Nov. 12, 2013

Gordon William Woodward born Nov 29, 1912 in Redvers, Sask passed away Nov 12, 2013 in Victoria, BC. Gordon was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Margaret, parents William & Emily (Hepburn), sisters Lena, Lillian, Irene, Rita, brothers Floyd, Jack and Bruce. Gordon is survived by his loving daughter Shirley, son-in-law Bill Jones, granddaughters Jacquie (Dave Vickers) and Laurie (Scott Richardson), two great grandchildren, Amy & Ryan, sisters Phyllis Perreaux (Duncan, BC) & Alice Newman (Leduc, Alberta), many nieces and nephews. Gordon and Margaret married in 1935 & moved to BC in 1938. They lived on a float home at Honeymoon Bay until 1945 when Gordon finished building their house in Lake Cowichan. They worked on March's farm until Gordon started working in the logging industry - Lake Logging, Groskleg & Truman and Crown Zellerbach until retirement in 1974 when they moved to Silver Bridge Park in Duncan. They enjoyed many years traveling in their RVs going as far as Nashville, spent several winters in Mesa and crossed Canada many times. In 2003, they moved to The Cedars in Victoria to be closer to family. Gordon enjoyed being the "Chief Potato Peeler" at The Cedars, volunteering happily for many years. Throughout his life, Gordon was widely known to enjoy farming and always had a big vegetable garden whether it was in Lake Cowichan, his "smaller" garden in Duncan or his "smallest" patio garden in his Victoria apartment growing cucumbers and tomatoes in containers.

Special thanks to Dr. Blair, Karen and the Staff of The Cedars (Dawson Heights), Dr. Miles, Barb McDonald, Bob Wear, Remi, Evelyn, Rosalie, Pat and all the Staff of the 2nd Floor, James Bay Care Centre. No service at Gordon's request.
