Margaretta G. (Gretta) Rice(1917 - 2014)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Margaretta Gwenllian apRhys Rice, shortly after a stroke at Parkwood Court. She was predeceased by her parents Col. and Mrs. Sheridan Rice, her brother David (Joan) and was the aunt of Margaret (Ted), Gwen (Len), Priscilla (Horace) and Pam (Stuart) and the great aunt of Corbin and Brinsley, Jeffrey, Stephanie, and Bradley and Ben, Katy and Joey and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was born in Southbourne, England and lived her childhood in Maple Bay, BC. After taking Teacher's training at Victoria College, she taught at Queen Margaret's School, Duncan, then gave 3 years' service with the Technical Mission in Ottawa for the British Admiralty. Returning to BC she continued teaching English to High School students, did further studies at UBC and later studied Library Science at the University of Illinois. She then worked as the School Librarian at S J Willis High School until she retired. She was a devoted Christian, involved in many missions. Her family was very important to her and she always showed great interest in their current projects, the books they were reading, the trips they were taking and the sports they were playing. Having a great interest in the family history she also tried to help them appreciate their remarkable family. She loved her garden, her Corgis, travelling and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. Margaretta is now with the Lord Jesus whom she loved and served - "With long life will I satisfy her and show her my salvation." Psalm 91

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, 2:00 pm at Lambrick Park Church, 1780 Feltham Road, Victoria. In lieu of flowers, donations to Camp Imadene would be appreciated. (
