Mary Irene (Chisman) ROBINSON

August 22, 1922 – March 30, 2013

Born in Cereal, AB, resided in Nanaimo, BC for 50 years and passed away in Victoria, BC at the age of 90. Predeceased by her parents Rupert & Ellen, her brother William & sister-in-law Gwen. Survived by her children Ina Meyer (Bob), Shelagh Baldwin (Morgan) & David Robinson (Gina) and her beloved grandchildren Stefanie & Lee Baldwin and Campbell, Hunter, Tanner & Bella Robinson. She is also survived by her nephews Brad (Trina) Chisman, Brent (Kat) Chisman & their families of Edmonton, AB as well as her cousin Barbara (Bob) Foulkes of Bath, England.

Mom stayed home with us when we were young & then worked as an Office Administrator, finishing off her career with Cunningham & Rivard Appraisals in 1988. Back in the day, she played softball in the Departure Bay Women's Coffee League and was a league bowler at Brechin Lanes. She took up lawn bowling at Bowen Park in her later years. She was also a breast cancer survivor.

Mom was a long-time member of the Harbourview Chapter of Sweet Adelines.

She volunteered for many charitable causes, in particular the Canadian Cancer Society and the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Auxiliary. After her retirement, she enjoyed travelling making trips to parts of Europe, the Holy Land, enjoying the Hawaiian sun & cruising to Alaska & the Panama Canal.

Mom was a wonderful role model to her children & a tower of strength through many challenging circumstances. She continuously demonstrated the benefits of hard work & perseverance throughout her life. She loved to throw dinner parties paired with a good bottle of wine, enjoying the company of family & her many friends. Her wonderful sense of humour will be missed.

Mom was a founding member of St. James Anglican Church. She carried her cross with dignity and had a deep faith in God. Her passing on Easter weekend was most appropriate.

Mom spent her last 3+ years at Glengarry Hospital in Victoria, BC after surviving a stroke. We wish to thank the wonderful staff for their excellent care.

Special thanks also to her great friend Joan Huck. They were true kindred spirits.

A gathering for family & friends will be held with the date still to be determined.
As Mom was such an avid volunteer, in lieu of flowers please make donations to the charity of your choice.
