Garland, Robert John Bower (Joe)

Aug 18, 1921- Feb 06, 2013

With deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Father Feb 06, 2013 following a short illness. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy Garland (Pearson) 1999. Survived by his daughter Cynthia Amer (Daniel/Hamze), his son John Nicholas Garland, (Pat), granddaughter, Cheryl Ackinclose (Jeff) grandson Matthew, granddaughter Janine, and 3 great grandchildren plus family and friends all across the country.

Our Dad began his Journey in Carlton County, ON where he was born. Joined the Canadian Air force during WWII, then on to the RCMP, stationed in Gleichen, AB. An Aboriginal Chief named him "Joe", the name he was known by all his life.

He was well known insurance adjuster across Canada. Moved from Calgary to Saanichton, BC 1964, then to Sidney, BC where his Journey ended after a sudden and brief illness.

A kind gentle man, he earned the respect of his family and friends for his integrity, loyalty and generosity. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Doctors and the Nursing staff of Saanich Peninsula Hospital, Beacon community services and his private care givers, without them, it would have been impossible for him to stay in his home.

No service by request. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Munster, ON. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Canadian Red Cross or the Salvation Army.

You will always be in our hearts Dad/ Joe
