Robert John BUTLER

BUTLER, Robert John October 1, 1944 - December 28, 2012 Bob was born in Victoria to Margaret and Jack Butler (both deceased). He is survived by wife, Leslie; sisters, Diane Butler (son, John) and Judy (Barry) Robson (son, Paul; daughter, Jaclyn) and extended family. He began working at Vancouver Island Coach Lines (later Gray Line of Victoria) at age 18 and spent most of his 40 years there in the Parcel Express Office. A highlight for Bob was when, at age 19, he escorted three busloads of young Beatles fans to the Beatles concert at Vancouver's Empire Stadium in 1964. Active in the sporting community, Bob both played (Capital Builders at Heywood Park) and coached (Beach Hill Little League). Bob was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing/boating and sports. He could build or fix anything he put his mind to. A caring, giving man, he touched many people in his lifetime and will be sadly missed. Special thanks to Dr. Michels and staff at the B.C. Cancer Agency, Home Support and Saanich Peninsula Palliative Care staff. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the Spring.
