BALSHAW, Tom 1920 - 2013 Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandpa, Uncle and good friend passed away peacefully at home. He is survived by his loving wife Vi and children Lori (Glenn) Baker, David (Heidi) Balshaw, Liana, Darrell Stephenson and grandchildren Steven and Tyler, Bobbi and Chase, Karli, Derek and Kati. Tom and Vi spent 53 wonderful years together creating a warm and inviting home. Tom was a fun, caring and very proud Father and Grandpa. After serving overseas as a Medic in WW2, Tom went off to design school in New York. He went on to become a respected furrier, opening a store in Park Royal and then moving to Victoria. Changing careers he worked at Old Country Rentals for 20 rewarding years until retirement in 1985. Tom devoted many years training and becoming one of the first lifeguards for Thetis and Elk Lake. He was a Shriner and a member of the Janizaries Marching Unit where he played the glockenspiel. Tom was a creative and inventive individual and was constantly working on a new project. He was his own man, with a big heart and a fun loving spirit. He will be forever in the hearts of his large family and many friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 2nd, 2013, at 1:30pm at Henderson Hall, 1632 Yale Street., Victoria. Parking near St. Mary's Church on Elgin St. off Oak Bay Ave.
