Xavier PELLETIER Obituary

PELLETIER, Xavier Ethan June 9, 1997 - June 16, 2013 We are heartbroken to share the news that on June 16th, 2013 we lost our much loved family member, Xavier Ethan Pelletier, in a tragic accident during the Ride to Conquer Cancer. At 16 years of age, Xavier was a talented young athlete who died riding in support of his uncle who is a cancer survivor. Xavier will be deeply missed and mourned by his loving family: mother - Annette Halsted, father - Richard Pelletier, sister - Jennifer Pelletier, uncles - Trevor Halsted, Nigel Halsted (Amardeep, baby Bruce), grandparents - Nora Halsted, Arthur and Cheryl Halsted, Helene Pelletier and extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins in Quebec, the United Kingdom, as well as friends around the world. A student at Pacific Christian School, Victoria, he actively participated in many sports - cycling, rugby, volleyball, triathlon, snowboarding and snowmobiling. A member of the Victoria R.E.A.D. society, Xav worked diligently to overcome dyslexia. Summer days were spent tubing and hanging with friends at Camp Imadene. He was also an avid sailor and was a member of the youth program at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club and the Victoria S.A.L.T.S where he was one of the youngest sailors aboard Pacific Grace last summer. A devotee of Top Gear, Xavier had a keen interest in automotive design and engineering and dreamed of designing and building supercars. He also loved to work with wood and created many beautiful pieces of functional art that will last a lifetime. A music lover, his iPod included an eclectic mix of rock, rap, pop, soul, dance and dub step. Xav enjoyed the comedy of Mclovin and emulated the power and focus of Jason Statham. He will be remembered for his compassion, generosity of spirit and easy going nature. He was always there to help, to enjoy a laugh and offer a kind word. An honest, gentle soul, he cared deeply for his family, friends and community. Xav always saw the good in people and never uttered a harsh word in anger. A Celebration of Xavier's short Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 11:00 am at the Glad Tidings Church, 1800 Quadra Street, Victoria. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the BC Cancer Foundation in Xavier Pelletier's name and participant number 272623-4. Kindly mail cheques to the BC Cancer Foundation 150 - 686 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC, V6B 3R8

I light this candle in memory of a fine young man, whose gentle spirit graced our elementary school. Xavier taught us how to teach children and his gifts were boundless. Jennifer was the best big sister and both Nora and Annette's support of us, helped us to be better educators for the kids. We at View Royal are so, so sorry for your tremedous loss.
