Paul Andre CYR

Born October 31, 1963, passed away Saturday May 12, 2012. Paul was born and raised in Port Alberni, BC. At a very early age Paul found his life's ambition - to play hockey. He enjoyed a very successful Junior hockey career and was chosen to represent Canada at the 1982 World Junior Hockey Championship where Canada won its first ever world Junior Championship. He realized his dream of becoming an NHL player when he was drafted into the NHL in 1982 by the Buffalo Sabres. Paul played NHL hockey for ten years and was well liked by both the coaches and the players.

Paul met his wife Connie in Port Alberni in June of 1997. Paul was a talented carpenter and after rebuilding their home in Port Alberni that was lost to a fire, they decided to move to Courtenay. In 2007 Paul and Connie moved to Nakusp BC, where they ran the Nakusp Hot Springs Cedar Chalets.

Paul... we miss you and you will be forever in our hearts.

Paul is survived by his wife Connie and step children Katlyn and Shelby, Mother Flore Cyr Davis (Ron), sisters Claire Cyr (Ron), Alice Bennett (Keith), Lina Bowen (Dan), Monique Prouten (Gerald), Suzanne Jones (John) and Diane Hollman (Mike), brothers Leon Cyr (Dawn) and Henri Cyr (Joanne) as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Paul is preceded in death by his father Gerard Cyr.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Holy Family Notre Dame Church (hall), 4731 Burke Road, Port Alberni, on June 16, 2012 from 11:30am to 3:30pm.
