LOVE, A. Ruth Martha (nee Schlack) May 20, 1933 - June 23, 2012 Ruth died peacefully at Saanich Peninsula Hospital at age 79. She was born and raised in Chesley, Ontario and attended nursing school in London, Ontario. After raising her family in London, Ontario and Calgary, Alberta, Ruth retired to Victoria where she indulged her love of gardening. She was an active member of Cordova Bay United Church before relocating to Sidney, where she was a longtime resident at Norgarden. A passionate crafter, Ruth leaves a legacy of handmade treasures and her gentle soul and generosity touched many people. She loved music and could often be found playing the piano at Norgarden and Saanich Peninsula hospital. Ruth was predeceased by parents August and Martha Schlack, elder sister Edel Van Slyke and grandson Steven. She is sadly missed by brother Harold Schlack (Sandra), her children, Paul (Susan), Jennifer (Chane), Michael (Kristina), and grandchildren Rupert, Mary, Julian, Gabriel and Frances. A memorial service will be held at Cordova Bay United Church, located at 813 Claremount Ave, Victoria, on Saturday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation.
