McGREGOR, Alberta Insh April 18, 1930 - February 7, 2013 We are saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Alberta (Bertha) on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the age of 82 years. She is survived by her four loving sons, James (Carol), Alan (Peggy), Stephen (Nicole) and George (Susan). Eight loving grandchildren Christopher (Lisa), Michael (Vicki), Correne (Martin), Lindsay (Harry), Sophia, Sarah, Ashley, Jennifer and five loving great grandchildren Brett, Cassidy, Tikia, Hayden and Tyler. Predeceased by her husband James on March 29, 1989. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Bertha immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her husband and two sons James and Alan. The family was then enlarged with the addition of Stephen in 1960 and George in 1964. She loved visiting her beloved Scotland where her ashes will be taken to rest with those of her husband. She also looked forward to visiting and travelling with her sons as they moved throughout British Columbia and visited different destinations throughout North America. Family gatherings were special times for Bertha as she loved having all of her family gathered around her. She will forever be remembered by her family as a loving, caring person who supported the decisions made by her sons and encouraged them to achieve their individual goals. She was extremely proud of the jobs they all did. Family was extremely important to her and she equally cherished the love she received from each of her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren; but in the last 14 years her attention turned to her great grandchildren as the numbers grew and she spent many happy hours with all of them. Bertha made many friends throughout her life and fondly remembered those she met during her days as a member of the Dockyard Recreation Association and the Esquimalt Plumbers Curling League. The McGregor family would like to extend their thanks to the caring doctors and nurses of the 6th floor at Victoria General Hospital. We will not forget the kindness you extended to all of us as we sat with our mother during the last days of her life. No service by request. A family memorial will be held at a later date.
