February 2, 1910 - November 2, 2012

Amelia Caroline PLATER, February 2, 1910 - November 2, 2012. Known fondly as "Millie" to many of her friends, passed away peacefully at the age of 102 with family by her side. Her peaceful passing is in keeping with who she was. Millie was born in Victoria, B.C. and was a descendent of one of the early families to settle at Fort Victoria in the1850's. She lived most of her life in Victoria and in later years she was a much loved resident of Broadway Pentecostal Lodge. Millie was a true nature lover and will be remembered for her love of the sea, trees, her wonderful garden and her particular passion for birds. Her family and grandchildren recall wonderful times exploring and discovering nature when visiting her home on the water at Roberts Bay in Sidney which she shared with her husband Bill, of many years. A 20 year survivor of breast cancer, Millie's longevity is a testament to her strength, her belief in a healthy lifestyle and the joy and happiness in which she lived every moment. The family is comforted in knowing she is once again reunited with her true love "Papa" (Bill). Millie is predeceased by her husband Bill and son John. Her sons Daryl and David; daughter-in-laws Shirlee and Sharon; grandchildren Sonya, Paul, Sean (Carmelina), Dylan, Aaron, and Jody (Mark); "adopted" granddaughter Courtney and great grand children Jack, Liam, Samantha and Dakota will all dearly miss her. The family will mark her passing with a private celebration.
