ROBERTSON, Andy 1917 - 2012 Andy passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2012 at George Derby Veterans' Centre in Burnaby just a few weeks short of his 96th birthday with his daughter Linda and granddaughter Anita by his side. Andy was predeceased by his wife Alice in 1998. He is survived by his two daughters, Bev (Tom) Lownie of Hornby Island and Linda Carr of Port Moody, his four grandchildren Janice (Jeff) Best of Langley, Keith (Anna) Lownie of Chilliwack, Tania (Al) Hobson of Powell River and Anita Jurick of Maple Ridge plus seven great grandchildren between the ages of 9 and 20. Andy was born in Vancouver in 1917. He was raised in Saskatchewan and came to Vancouver Island as a young man. He worked in the logging camps in Duncan and then moved to Victoria. After serving in the Navy in the Second World War, Andy took an apprenticeship in carpentry. He worked for Paine & Townsend and then as a foreman for Campbell Construction. He enjoyed fishing, playing crib and watching Blue Jays baseball. Special thanks to the staff on Lower North at George Derby Centre for their excellent care of Andy over the past three years. At Andy's request there will be no service.
