DUCKITT, Audrey Eleanor December 25, 1926 – October 8, 2012 Audrey died peacefully in her sleep on October 8th. She was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1998 and is survived by her son Gerry and daughter Janice, grandchildren Abby and Ally and sisters Barbara (Leo) Ciarniello and Maxine (Dave) Ginter. Audrey was born and raised in Ponoka, Alberta where she grew up on a farm. At age 19 Audrey attended Sprott Shaw Business College in Victoria and met Tom and they married a short time after in 1947. Audrey was a hard working woman who had a wide range of jobs during her working life. The last job Audrey held was with the Sergeant-At-Arms in the Parliament Buildings where she worked as an attendant for 12 years and so enjoyed it. Audrey loved cooking, sewing, knitting, dancing, playing bridge, lawn bowling, travelling abroad and last but not least a good gin and tonic. After suffering a broken back in 1999 Audrey eventually moved to Edmonton to be close to Janice and receive the care she required. Even with the challenges that presented themselves in her later years Audrey was always able to see the positive side of life she lived to the fullest regardless of her limitations and never complained. Audrey always put her family first and her greatest joy was being able to spend time with her children and grand daughters. Her family would like to give special thanks to the staff on 4C of the Edmonton General Hospital for the exceptional care and kindness shown to her during her final 4 years. Her remains have been cremated and a ceremony will be held next year in her honour. Thank you so much Mom for all you have done for us as you were an incredible Mother, friend and Grandmother and we will miss you so much.
