David Wallace Obituary

WALLACE, David Douglas 1952 - 2017 It is with great sadness that we share the news of David's death. He died of a sudden heart attack while outside planning his next project for the home in Metchosin he was so proud of. David was born and raised in Victoria. He had a successful career in finance with the Provincial Government but his present employment with Community Living was a job he looked forward to every day. He was well liked and respected for his work ethic and will be missed by his collegues and friends in the program. In his teens, David became a talented musician, playing the bass guitar in his band called "The Mystics" as well as many other local bands. Music, in a variety of genres, continued to play an important role throughout his life. He also became an avid gardener, enjoying the fruits of his labour. David was a man of quiet strength, though most recently he loved to share stories of past experiences with family and friends. He enjoyed a quiet chuckle and his sense of humour often entertained his grandchildren. He was looking forward to retirement and having more time to be involved with their activities. Our hearts ache for the dreams he will not fulfill. Dave is survived by his partner Jolene; children, Scott and Jocelyn; mother, Joan; siblings, Linda, Mark, Rob; and grandchildren, Bonita, Cianna, Sophia, Forest, and Emile. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of First Met on Thursday, May 25, at 3:00pm.

Dave and I were fast friends all through junior high/high school - he played great bass guitar and we played in many bands together - lots of good times at the Tango in the 60's - I heard from Dave about 10 years ago, and that communication resulted in him reconnecting me with an old guitar I was able to re-acquire! Thanks for that, Dave. You will be missed. Jim Caldwell

Many memories of our "younger days" sharing music and fun. A good man, we enjoyed catching up with Dave again over the last few years and meeting Jolene. We will miss his friendship and kindness, our sincere condolences to the family. We will be unable to attend the memorial due to a previous commitment but otherwise would be there in his honor.
