David RAMSDEN Obituary

RAMSDEN, David Died June 23, 2014 after losing a struggle with heart disease. He was born in Rainham, England in 1949 and immigrated to Canada as a young child where he spent his youth in Newmarket, Ontario. He leaves behind his wife, Joyce; son, Sam; daughter-in-law, Martina and grandsons, Alessandro and Matteo; son, Ben; daughter-in-law, Egyp and granddaughter, Lina; sister Elaine and nieces, Tracey and Denise and their families. Joyce's family in the U.S. and Denmark, along with Marti's and Egyp's families in Sardinia and Korea, counted him as one of their own. David received his B.Sc. from McMaster and his M.Sc. in climatology from UVic. He worked as a scientific programmer for the Ins. of Ocean Sciences, and the Climate Research Centre, retiring 15 years ago to pursue an avid interest as an online investor. Dave was a mentor for several traders and administrated an online trading thread for over a decade. He had a special spot in his heart for his grandchildren, and was a wonderful father and husband. Friends say that once you met Dave, you could never forget him for his unique brand of humour, candid observations, and exuberant nature. A heartfelt thank you to Bryan Hardy, TCMP, Drs. Smardon, Swiggums, Antonsen, and cardiac team; Hospice, RJH Cardiac wards, Emergency, CCU, Pacemaker Clinic and Ambulance Services. Their professional, yet caring attention gave us much comfort. And our wonderful friends - you have been my life-line. An open house celebrating his life will be held at the family home on July 6th, 2014 between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the RJH Foundation or Hospice. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.

Joyce,Sam and family. So Sorry for your loss of your husband and father far too soon.
I enjoyed our days as MJS parents of our French Immersion kids and Dave was a blast on the Rec Hockey Team many years ago. Any time we crossed paths, Dave and I had the greatest chats.
Warm thoughts.

Dave was indeed a daily inspiration to his online friends and is remembered by us fondly for for his openness, his intellect, his sense of humor, compassion and love of family. While the profession we are in is a largely solitary one, Dave created a space for collegiality. We can all aspire to live in a way that leaves so much goodwill in our wake. Thank you for that, Dave.
